Magazine Appearances

“Nakakatuwa na people consider me a fashion icon.”

When I first entered the showbiz world, I didn’t have that stylish soul. It was Liz Uy who really influenced me to mix and match my clothes. Now, I consider my favorite get-up as a combination of laidback clothes, high heels, and of course, red lipstick! Thanks to YES! Magazine March 2012 issue for making me part of the prestigious 10 Best-Dressed Stars list.

For over 14 years now, I believe I have already shared almost 80% of my life. During my birthdays, my family gatherings, my hobbies, my activities with friends, and even my heartbreaks, I always make sure that you’re part of them. My life is an open book. And the reason why I love appearing in magazines is because it’s one way to share my wonderful life, my deepest secrets, my thoughts, and some beauty & fashion tips. So, let’s go back 10 years ago and trace how I evolved from being a girl to becoming a woman.

“This Cosmo cover is my first step towards womanhood.”
Cosmopolitan magazine isn’t my first magazine appearance. During my teenage years, I also posed for Candy and other tween magazines. However, I want to start my magazine timeline with Cosmopolitan’s November 2003 issue because this is where I was officially announced as a woman. I was 18 years old then but I felt so grown up. It’s also the first time I wore a sexy dress, which was way different from my pigtails and sneakers outfit.

“The working hours, the lifestyle… Everyday there’s work na.”
My appearance in Chalk magazine last October 2005 coincided with my teleserye Kampanerang Kuba. So during the interview, I shared my insights about my work. Being a career woman isn’t easy, especially when you’re in showbiz. I experienced so many changes when I was given lead roles in ABS-CBN’s TV series. There was no more time for gimmicks and parties. But, it was all worth it. Now, I’m enjoying the fruits of my labor!

“I’ve always wanted to have a house of my own, and now I finally have it.”
Above all, my ultimate dream was to have my own house. And after many years in the showbiz industry, I finally achieved my dream. So last 2005, I told E magazine about my newly-built home.

“I’ve made mistakes and I don’t regret anything.”
In Metro magazine’s March 2005 issue, I confessed that I was a former rebelde and playgirl. I’m not ashamed of my past because my experiences honed me to who I am right now. I learned so many lessons that are not taught inside the classrooms.

“I’m happy with this because even if this is my first ever bikini shoot, it didn’t look bad.”
My first ever swimsuit shoot was for Uno magazine’s June 2005 issue. I really like the bikinis I wore for this pictorial because they’re classy and they weren’t skimpy and cheap. I love wearing swimsuits because I’m a certified beach lover!

“I would love have done all the movies and television shows she did.”
Back in Mega magazine’s March 2006 issue, I confessed who my ultimate Filipina idol is. Guess who? It’s no other than my Ate in the movie In Your Eyes. I remember saying that Ms. Claudine Barretto is one female star I would want to emulate.

“I worked and studied. It’s easy enough when you put your heart into it, but some words I still get buluktot.”
One thing I had to face when I entered the showbiz industry was to learn the Filipino language. Since I spent 12 years in Australia, I always had that slang and twang. When I was interviewed for Mega magazine’s April 2007 issue, I finally got my Tagalog words correctly!

“I wear heels all the time when I’m working so I prefer to wear flats when I’m not.”
I love wearing heels but of course I wouldn’t want to torture my legs and feet all the time. The highest heels I’ve ever worn were for Marie Claire’s September 2007 issue.

“It’s a different men’s magazine, I keep telling people close to me.”
This is my second cover for Uno magazine and I would love to have a third, fourth, fifth… I really love the swimsuits I wear for their pictorials because they classy and chic.

“It’s so much fun to work with Tita Fanny.”
Whenever Tita Fanny Serrano is my make-up artist, I don’t feel like working at all! I meant that in a very good way! He’s so thoughtful, sincere, and is very easy to work with. For Hair Asia’s 2007 Bridal Issue, I got the chance to be a bride for one day! Special thanks to Tita Fanny for making me a very beautiful bride wannabe!

“Life goes on for those who are left behind.”
I shared my family’s grief and loss for my baby sister Clare during an interview for Cosmopolitan’s December 2007 issue. Losing Clare was the biggest blow I’ve had to deal with but soon I realized she’s now in the best place this universe has.

“I want to be able to give one hundred percent to everything that I do.”
It’s an honor to appear in Mega magazine for the second time. And honestly this September 2008 issue is one of my favorites. I felt like I was a Hollywood personality because of the stunning make-up, outfit and set design. Being the magazine cover is a very great privilege that’s why I always make sure I give my hundred percent in everything I do.

“I’m still a bugoy at heart. And yes, jologs ako!”
It still amazes me that I win fashion awards. I don’t have a specific fashion style because I just go with my mood. Sometimes, I can be so classy, and then on other days, I prefer being laid back. And yes, I confess that I can be jologs sometimes! Well, I guess being yourself is really the best.

“Oh my gosh! I’ve never been asked these questions before!”
One of the memorable interviews I’ve had was for Rogue magazine’s July 2008 issue. The questions were weird but funny at the same time! Good thing, I was able to answer those questions!

“I’m just like everyone else.”
Like you, I also have my “panget” moments. There are days that I feel so ugly and then there are days that I feel the opposite. This is one confession I said during an interview for Starstudio magazine’s September 2008 issue. Well, girls are girls. We’re complicated and we have our mood swings.

“I’m always excited whenever I get to do a cover because I get to put on different looks.”
This February 2009 issue is my fourth cover for Mega magazine. But as usual, I’m über excited. I love doing cover shoots because I get to portray different images! It’s like being a totally different Anne!

“Preview is certainly a cover I always absolutely love doing!”
Preview never fails to change my look. They have helped me evolve before the public into a woman through fashion. I like shoot, the concept, and the clothes! I always die of happiness whenever I cover for Preview like this November 2009 issue.

“He’s a nice guy. He takes care of me. And he’s so down-to-earth.”
Yes, I’m talking about my prince charming Erwan Heusaff. I did a wedding pictorial for Wedding Insights’ April 2011 issue. However, this doesn’t mean that I’m getting married any sooner! I have a wonderful relationship with my beau and at the same time I have a blossoming career. No need to rush so you won’t hear wedding bells yet.

“14 years and still counting.”
Time flies so fast! I’ve been in this industry for fourteen years already! But believe it or not, I’m enjoying every bit of it. Though at times, I really need a vacation especially after months of hectic schedule. That’s what I told during an interview for Blush magazine’s June 2011 issue. I like being busy but of course before I reach that saturation point, I make sure I take a vacation so I’m not burned out.”

Preview September 2011

“A lot of work!”My everyday life right now is work. The entertainment industry has been my life for fourteen years now. Sometimes, I enjoy so much that I feel like it’s not work anymore. It’s all about having fun and doing something you love. I shared these sentiments during an interview for Preview magazine’s September 2011 issue.

Rogue October 2011

“You can see the billboards as achievements. It becomes crazy, but this wasn’t something that was placed on my lap.”Rogue magazine’s 2011 issue is one of the best photo shoots I’ve ever had. First, because we enjoyed Paris, one of the most beatiful cities in the world. Second, because it showed the real me. Yes, I’ve always been taking risks. But if not for those decisions, I might not have been able to reach all these achievements. I’ve worked hard for all of these of the past fourteen years. I dared to go beyond what I know and what I can do.

Cosmo
Cosmopolitan is one of my favorite magazines. In every Cosmo issue I pose for, I make sure that I have something new to share with my readers and followers. My cover for 2012 served as my 15th year celebration in showbiz. It was also Cosmo’s 15th anniversary special.

Luxe
Posing for Luxe magazine has always been a memorable experience. It shows off my sophisticated side. It’s also a chance to share my beauty regimens for women on-the-go like me.

Metro
Moden Heroine? Wow. It’s an honor to be chosen as the cover of Metro Magazine’s ‘The Fashion Issue’. The shoot for this cover was a trip down memory lane. Vintage cars, vintage clothes, vintage ambience. By the way, I’m a fan of vintage collections!

People Asia
It was People Asia’s 2011 issue that gave me the title of National Sweetheart. To be given that title is an honor. This issue also served as a tribute for women. It recognized today’s most respected women of style and substance.

Uno
Uno magazine never fails to show my daring personality. It’s not to show skin. Rather, it reveals my bold aspirations in life. As the cover speaks, I am ambitious and I dare do make my dreams come true.

Yes

I’m very thankful for Yes! Magazine for making me the cover of 2012’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars. It’s an honor to be alongside obviously beautiful people. It came as a surprise to me as I wasn’t expecting to be the face of this prestigious list. As I always say, dreams really do come true!

    Hi Miss Anne,

Hi, i’m Ricky from Makati. I’m a great fan of you. I will be celebrating my birthday next month and i would like to ask for an autographed photo of you as a gift. Since your a star and i’m an ordinary guy getting your autograph or meeting you in person is impossible for me to do. I hope you can grant my wish for my birthday gift. It will be a great addition for my autograph collections. Thank you very much in advance. God bless and more power.

Anne Curtis is one of those few gems in a long line of young asian women with mixed backgrounds who are a delight to see these days. Not only is pretty, she’s also great talent.

Here in the U.S. we don’t have anything like her here.
